Why Access?
Equity, Diversity
& Inclusion
At Access Services, we are committed to five core values: Person-Centered, Collaboration, Innovation, Authenticity and Passion for Service. Our commitment to living out each of these core values calls us to build an inclusive and equitable organization that values diversity and works to elevate all voices. We recognize that our commitment to the principles of Equity, Diversity and Inclusion in everything we do is an ongoing process.
Equity at Access
We believe in serving people in the way they desire to be served. Believing that people are the authors of their lives, we partner with people in a person-centered way. Helping them find the pathways to reach their goals. Allowing them to lead the way in their growth. We strive to empower and train our people to be culturally aware and sensitive to issues where barriers to equitable access exist.Â
We are the people we serve. We believe in supporting our employees in ways that allow them to bring their authentic selves to the workplace. This allows them to reach their full potential as employees and contribute meaningfully to our organization.
Diversity at Access
We are all humans united in our passion to serve our communities. We engage most easily with people who understand us – our culture, our values, and how we understand the world. Our differences allow us to see things from unique perspectives and backgrounds. It makes us stronger and more innovative. We believe that authentic communication and an environment open to thoughts and ideas different from our own allows us to grow as individuals and as an organization. Â
We strive to employ a workforce with the diversity to engage those we serve in a way that is meaningful for each individual and family. We are committed to growth and improvement as an organization to elevate the voices of those historically underrepresented and marginalized. This includes removing barriers to leadership roles for those underrepresented.Â
Inclusion at Access
We believe that when everyone is included, we are better as people and as an organization. We cannot do this work without collaboration internally and externally. We believe every person deserves to be included and given the opportunity to collaborate in ways that are meaningful and genuine. This means supporting people to do their best work and accommodating all needs in the workplace and those we serve to the best of our ability.
We believe every person deserves the opportunity to build the life they want to live and to have access to the resources necessary to make that happen.
Accommodations
We believe that employment should be accessible. Lack of accommodations can create inaccessibility in the workplace. If you are in need of accommodations as an employee or potential employee, our team is ready to work with you to the best of our abilities.Â
If you are in need of accommodations as an individual we serve, please let your program know your needs. We will do our best to meet each and every need as they arise.Â
Organizational Involvement
Racial Equity Learning Community (RELC)
Access Services is involved in RELC. As described by the Bucks-Mont Collaborative, RELC is a multi-sector initiative for organizations in Bucks and Montgomery Counties. Their goals involve learning, building relationships, and taking action that deepens organizational and collective capacity to advance racial equity and justice. The national, best practices of the nINA collective trainers paired with the expertise and local knowledge of coaches and participants creates a strong framework to advance and sustain learning and equitable action in our community.Â
Trauma-Informed Organization (TIROC)
Access Services has engaged in a whole-organization effort to be more intentionally trauma-informed in all of our operations. Under the oversight of the National Council for Mental Wellbeing, in 2020-21 we were able to begin a journey to address how all of our operations reflect an awareness of human impact. While this journey will continue well into the future, we have already begun to invest in staff training, policy review, communication strategy, and more inclusion of those with lived experience. We believe that trauma is a unifying experience and connection is the pathway forward. Out of that belief, we know that we are the people we serve and we strive to integrate our full experiences into our relationships of service.
Montgomery County Multi-Faith Coalition
The Multi-Faith Coalition’s mission is to act as a convener of people from faith communities and service partners to promote collaboration, dialogue, and resource sharing for the common good.Â
Led by a team of volunteers representing faith communities, human services organizations, and Montgomery County government, it is our goal to strengthen our collective efforts to improve the overall health of our region.Â
That is why we believe it is important to create brave spaces that allow every person to bring their whole selves to the conversation and work together to address community needs that would otherwise go unmet.  We invite you to join this coalition.
