Access Services - Creating Better Ways To Serve People With Special Needs

Child & Family - Mental Health

Bringing therapy to you.

Behavioral Health Rehabilitation Services is a state-funded program that provides therapeutic interventions to children under the age of 21 who are experiencing emotional or behavioral problems. The program employs a family-centered philosophy and is based on the principle of “wrapping” services and supports around the specific need of the children and their families. Individualized service is provided as a process of working with children and their families in their home, communities and schools.

The Bucks County LIFE Program has come to Access Services as of November 1,2010.  LIFE serves Bucks County families who have a child or adolescent who has emotional, behavioral, social and/or learning challenges. A team of parent support specialists come alongside of families to provide information, connection to community resources and the support they need to empower them to advocate for their child. The LIFE program team provides families with opportunities to share common concerns through support groups and workshops.  In addition, the LIFE program staff work with local child-serving systems, and participate in various training, quality improvement projects and new initiatives.  The Bucks County LIFE program seeks to prevent children and their families from languishing without optimal services and from unnecessary hospitalizations and out of home placements.  The LIFE program is a community service aimed at keeping children in their homes and communities where they can grow and find acceptance and success.

Opening our hearts and homes.

All children with mental health challenges deserve family and a nurturing home environment that meets their therapeutic needs. Many children are living with mental illness in family homes, regular foster homes or group homes that require a level of support and care beyond that available in their current situation. To help these children, Access Services’ Therapeutic Foster Care program seeks extraordinary individuals to serve as Therapeutic Foster Parents.

Therapeutic Foster Parents provide a nurturing home environment for children aged nine to eighteen years of age with a need for mental health treatment. These outstanding individuals act as agents of planned change, fulfilling both a treatment and a foster role.
